Kristen Stewart Wore the Affordable Basic Everyone Needs in Their Wardrobe

Given her longtime partnership with Chanel, it’s rare that something Kristen Stewart wears—especially for a press event—can be re-created easily on a budget. So when the Spencer actress appeared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert wearing a basic that 1) can be purchased almost anywhere at an affordable price and 2) is essential to any well-rounded wardrobe, we knew we had to spread the news ASAP.The basic in question? A poplin, button-down shirt, aka every fashion person’s go-to when they need something stylish and put-together to pair with jeans, trousers, or even joggers (a WFH favorite). For her appearance on The Late Show, Stewart and her stylist, Tara Swennen, paired a white tuxedo-style button-down with cropped, high-waisted trousers; a black satin necktie; and cream-and-black lace-up pumps, all by Chanel. Underneath the unbuttoned shirt, she added a simple white tank top and silver jewelry.Though her head-to-toe Chanel look won’t come cheap, most of the look-alike button-downs ahead won’t cost you more than $150. On Kristen Stewart: Chanel shirt, trousers, and heelsThis truly is the perfect white Oxford.H&M did good with this one.No collar necessary. The famous Kelly-green poplin shirt from The Frankie Shop. When you can’t pick just one pattern. This top is so flouncy and breathable. The luxe pajama version of your standard-issue poplin shirt. Not a bad way to spend $25.Everything from Loulou Studio is insanely chic.Easy and essential.A touch of pink. This shirt will look good with pretty much anything you pair with it. For a more neutral look.A no-brainer purchase. The contrasting stripes are so chic.Spring is coming soon, right? It’s impossible not to love an open-button look. This is perfect for anyone trying to master the menswear-inspired trend in 2022.This entire look is cool. How good is this color combo? An elevated twist on the poplin shirt.Fashion people rave about Everlane’s Oxford shirts. That collar, though.Coming up: This Basic May Be “Boring,” But These 10 Outfits Are Proving Otherwise
